Hello! I’m Nikki Mentges, the editor and beta reader at NAM Editorial. I provide timely, intensive editing, proofreading, and beta reading for independent authors. See my “Beta Reading and Editing” page for details.
I earned my BFA in Creative and Professional Writing from Bemidji State University, where I graduated summa cum laude, worked as a writing tutor, and completed an editorial internship. In addition to my own independent editing, I currently beta read for Quiethouse Editing, content and copy edit for Siren-BookStrand, and final line edit/proofread for Liquid Silver Publishing (formerly Liquid Silver Books). My work history also includes content and copy editing for Cobblestone Press.
Over the last several years, I have critiqued and edited novels, novellas, short stories, literary nonfiction, poetry, academic essays, website copy, senior theses, letters of rec, scholarship/graduate school applications, and cover letters. My first love is fiction though. I’ve been beta reading manuscripts since 2009 and writing since long before that.
I live in Minnesota’s Arrowhead region with my horses, my barn cats, and enough mosquitoes to drain a blood bank. When I’m not editing, I read voraciously—you can find me on Goodreads. I also write speculative fiction under a pen name and spend far too much time watching hockey. (Go Caps!)
