About Me

Hello! I’m Nikki Mentges, the editor and beta reader at NAM Editorial. I provide timely, intensive editing, proofreading, and beta reading for independent authors and small presses. See my Editorial Services page for details.

I earned my BFA in creative and professional writing from Bemidji State University, where I graduated summa cum laude, worked as a writing tutor, and completed an editorial internship. In addition to working with independent clients, I have conducted freelance beta reads for Quiethouse Editing, copy edits for Riptide Publishing, content and copy edits for Siren-BookStrand, final line edits for Liquid Silver Publishing (formerly Liquid Silver Books), and content and copy edits for Cobblestone Press.

Over the past decade, I have critiqued and edited novels, novellas, short stories, query letters, blurbs, literary nonfiction, poetry, academic essays, website copy, blog posts, newsletter copy, senior theses, letters of recommendation, scholarship and graduate school applications, résumés, and cover letters. My first love is fiction, though. I’ve been critiquing manuscripts since 2009 and writing since long before that.

I live in Minnesota’s Arrowhead region with my horse, my cats, and enough mosquitoes to drain a blood bank. When I’m not editing, I read voraciously—you can find me on Goodreads. I also write speculative fiction under a pen name and spend far too much time watching hockey. (Go Caps!)
